Finally - I managed to get my hands on a Gibson Murphy Lab 1960 Hummingbird! I've always been intrigued by the look of the Gibson Hummingbird and as a short scale square shoulder mahogany dreadnought it makes a lot of sense to me in theory as a versatile instrument.

However - the vintage 1960s Hummingbirds I have played over the years have left me a bit disappointed - maybe it's the ADJ ceramic bridge, the huge pick guard, the slim neck or a combination of all these factors.

With the Murphy Lab 1960 Hummingbird Gibson have produced a guitar that lives up to the promise of the specs - I did not expect to like it as much as I did but I really enjoyed my time with this instrument.

If you hate the looks then fine but you should definitely try one if you get the chance. I personally think it looks pretty good.
Thank you to Gibson UK for the loan of this beautiful guitar - learn more here
I'll see you in the next one
Until then, stay tuned
