It's funny how things turn out. Although I'd been aware of his work after watching a mind-bendingly good perfomance on a Casimi classical guitar, my first meeting with the South African guitar genius Derek Gripper was in a beautiful apartment in Paris where we had been invited to play a private concert. I had asked Derek if he'd be willing to sit for an interview for a since abandoned podcast series I had started (I much prefer the visual medium to be honest!) and he kindly agreed. 

The intention was not to film the interview but I had just bought a GoPro camera and thought I'd let it run just to see what happened. I'm not sure how much you know about GoPros but they use a tiny memory card that almost immediately nestled into the foam padding of my camera case and would not see the light of day again until years later when I found the little bugger!
