I have long been inspired by piano music, in particular the work of composers such as Erik Satie, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. Pianists have an advantage over guitarists in the shape of the sustain pedal (it's the one in the middle next to the accelerator) although they don't get any vibrato so I guess it all pans out.
While exploring ideas for my new piece Lords of The Hundreds I came across a sustaining, textural part which while relatively simple demands a lot of concentration and accuracy to play effectively. So much so that I thought it would be useful as an exercise.
